Meghan & Danny | Married! | First Look

Their thirst for adventure is infectious…watching as these two gathered with family and friends to be married, I could see it in their friends’ eyes. Meghan and Danny bring that out in the people they share their lives with. And, I’ve no doubt, this is just the start of their quest for living life to the fullest and sharing that with others. Here is just a peek at the beginning of this new adventure…

Karen & Billy | Married!!

Almost since I met my best friend Kim 15 years ago, I had heard about Karen, her sister, and her sister’s fiancé, Billy. I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Karen many times over the years and love her sarcastic humor and wit! It was known that Karen and Billy were truly committed to one another for these past many years, but marriage wasn’t necessarily part of the equation. That is, until this spring, when I visited Kim and she announced that Karen and Billy were finally going to be married! I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph them on their wedding day!

I love, love, loved getting to hang out with the family over this Fourth of July holiday getting to know everyone! What a special day for these two really wonderful people! Karen and Billy, I wish you all the happiness in the world! You deserve it!

Lauren & Skuyler | Married!!

“When I last checked, it looks like there was a 20% chance…that’s not bad.” “Wait, I just checked it…it’s now 30%”…Lauren and I sat in a golf cart under a tree at the farthest point away from the club house at the Highlander Golf Course, as a full-on downpour began. Lauren sat, looking absolutely stunning in her dress, her hair and make up perfect. For a brief moment, she looked a bit stunned as well, but then, she looked at me and said, “If this had to happen to anyone, I’m glad it was me. It’s all going to work out.” And, she was right. She saw Skuyler just as the skies cleared. They were married just as a rainbow appeared over the sun-drenched hills. They were surrounded by all the love and support one could ever hope for in an entire lifetime!

James and I came away from this wedding just in awe of these two. Lauren and Skuyler are two people who you know will be making a huge impact in this world. Now that they have found one another, they will do even more together, than apart. There’s just something about their love for one another that teaches others, without them having to say a word. This is something very special. Something that no rain storm will be able to wash away. And, I have no doubt there’s a 100% chance of happiness in their future! Congratulations, you two!!!

Alex & Erik | Engaged!!

What do you say, Percy? I am thinking
of sitting out on the sand to watch
the moon rise. Full tonight.
So we go, and the moon rises, so beautiful it

makes me shudder, makes me think about
time and space, makes me take
measure of myself: one iota
pondering heaven. Thus we sit,

I thinking how grateful I am for the moon’s
perfect beauty and also, oh! How rich
it is to love the world. Percy, meanwhile,
leans against me and gazes up into
my face. As though I were
his perfect moon.
-Mary Oliver

The way he gazes upon her face, as though she were his perfect moon… A reflection of light onto him. That’s what their love looks like to me.

Alex and Erik will be married this very weekend at the Tierra Learning Center in Leavenworth, WA! And, I am ridiculously excited about it! First, here are few images from their engagement session…

Jennifer & Dusty | Married!!!

For months leading up to this day, they prepared the property, they made favors for guests, they painted, and constructed and polished. All this in preparation for their wedding day, but more importantly in preparation for their future. Jennifer and Dusty are making a home and life on Dusty’s family ranch along the shores of Jameson Lake in the middle of Washington state where they were married Saturday. It was extremely apparent, by all of the work they’ve done together how much this new life fits them. Life in the country, with their two dogs, Checkers and Levi, their chickens and horses, and little blue house on the lake are just perfect! Perfect!

Jenn and Dusty, we were so privileged to share in this celebration with you in this most perfect of settings! James and I wish you  nothing but the best in your new life together on the ranch! Congratulations!!!

Oh, and I just couldn’t get enough of all the little ones running around! Aren’t they the sweetest?!

Jennifer & Dusty | Married! | Sneak Peek

As I stood along the lake watching the moon rise over the basalt cliffs, I was in awe of the beauty that surrounded us. I was hyper-aware of the vastness of the earth. It made me think how absolutely extraordinary it is that in this great, wide world we can find that one person who makes us feel so alive, it hurts. I looked back at the celebration of marriage happening on the beautiful Wittig Ranch and I couldn’t help but smile widely, knowing the Jennifer had, in all of this vast world, found her love, Dusty. And, we are so grateful that these two found us and allowed us to document their celebration! I’m so excited to share their full wedding with you this Thursday!

Katie & Jerry | The Wedding!

A wedding on a mountain in another country couldn’t have been more fitting for Katie and Jerry. Their love of travel and skiing made it the perfect setting for their marriage. Complete with family and friends joining from Seattle and as far off as Slovakia, it was the just the best beginning to their official lives together! Katie and Jerry know how to have fun and they made sure this wonderful weekend in Whistler was a good time for all! They even managed to ski down the mountain just after they were married and before the party started at the Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler Village!

James and I were honored to be a part of your celebration, Katie and Jerry, and we wish you many, many more adventures throughout your life together!!!

It was a great couple of days hanging out with some amazing people, learning and spending some quality time in Seattle! The other audience members are dedicated professional photographers and the sweetest people out there! I am so grateful for them.

And, seriously so thankful to J* and the CreativeLive crew for working so hard to put together a fantastic show!!! I took mad notes, but I also went a little crazy with my Vines…so, I thought I’d share these silly videos with you here…

Allison + Jeff {The Engagement}

Her laugh! That smile! It’s infectious, contagious! He tries to contain himself, but he can not. His sly grin turns into honest-to-goodness laughter in her presence. Joy and peace fill their home, their lives. This is the beginning of a very good thing.

Allison and Jeff, not only is your laughter contagious, but so is your love! Keep doing that and well, I’d say, life is going to be pretty good to you…

So much love to you!

Here’s to the Dreamers…

Oh yeah, this video has probably been seen by all y’all out there, but I just saw it again for the first time. And this time, Steve Jobs isn’t talking about everyone else. He’s talking about me. He’s talking about you…if you let him. Have you ever thought of yourself as an “Amelia Earhart”? A Ghandi? A Steve Jobs? No? Why not?

I know for myself, I’ve always put people in categories, and ranked them. This is what we do, evolutionarily, to keep ourselves safe, but what it has done for me is put me in a teeny tiny box that has essentially immobilized me my entire life.

When I watch this video now, I see people who DARED to dream, then DARED to do. Thus far, I have dared to dream…I let myself live there, but I never let myself live in a place where DOING was a reality. Why? Well, the usual suspects, of course, fear, doubt, laziness ruled my mind. They kept me in my place. “You’re just not smart enough, Kathryn, to learn about things like that, so why pick up that book…” “You’re just the type of person who will never really thrive at any one thing…you’re a Jack-of-all-trades, master of none.” … “With success comes too much responsibility and you’re not very responsible”. These are seriously the things that travel through my head on a regular basis. The mantras I’ve told myself for years. I didn’t intentionally try to sabotage myself. I just didn’t realize how much these thoughts had a grip on my entire way of being!

I’ve begun to realize that, I too, am a big dreamer…I am a round peg…and at one time I was trying to fit into that square hole. Now though, I’m not seeking to fit in at all…I’m seeking to be whatever shape I take next, sharing my talents, expanding them in all directions and DARING to DO the BIG things I find meaningful and fascinating along the way!

Speaking of dreamers though…here’s to my favorite among them…
