my {BIG} goal for 2012!

Phewwww… so, here it is, the deadline for the Goal Party giveaway, and guess what?! I don’t know what my goal is! I have been oscillating between two different goals, but I seriously haven’t until…well…right this minute nailed it down! Why? Because choosing ONE BIG goal is tough! And, because saying your goals out loud isn’t easy. It’s downright frightening, or at least I think it is. When I asked you to declare your goal publicly I didn’t think much of it. But, all of you who posted are braver than you know. Thank you for that.

One of my goals for this year is quite personal and I think I’ll keep that one to myself, for now, so that leaves a more public, but really daunting goal to admit I’d like to accomplish THIS YEAR!

Soooo, here goes…my BIG goal for this year is to photograph 15 weddings. That’s it. My first reaction right now is to just delete this because honestly, I don’t know if I’m going to accomplish this. This is my first year in business. I am still making contacts, inroads, so this is legitimately going to be tough to do. And, admitting something out in the open that leaves you vulnerable and may make you look like a failure, is hard. But, that’s why I’m doing it. This goal is meant to be BIG. It’s meant to be ostentatious, but …but…that doesn’t mean it feels good to put out there.

If I don’t go BIG though, I better just go home. And, (not that I’m too good for my home) I don’t wanna. I want to go out into the world and do the thing that makes my heart sing! I want to work hard and be fearful and overcome those fears. I want to work with people who love my work and want to develop bonds that will last a life time. I want to be my best self. I want to be a part of people’s lives through photography on one of their most special days ever. And, when I do go home, I want to know that I put my everything into it.

So here’s to a year of putting myself out there. Being real. Making meaningful connections. Being brave, even when it seems like it’s all just too much. Here’s to a 2012 that’s BIGGER than we can all imagine!

A + J wedding Part II {Wenatchee wedding photographer}

I almost didn’t split this wedding into two posts because I wanted to share these images with everyone last week!

Remember that panache I referenced in Part I? Oh, well there’s more where that came from!

And, don’t forget to keep your eye out for the DIY wood details all handmade by the groom!

A + J wedding Part I {wenatchee wedding photographer}

Recently, I shared the engagement session of Allison and Jesse and explained that their love for each other is out there for all to see! Their wedding day was no exception. You could tell they just wanted to be close to one another. The girls “revealed” Allison, which I just LOVED photographing, and Allison and Jesse were like two magnets, drawn to one another. And the way that they look at one another- adoring, admiring, addicted!

The style, the details, the panache of this couple and their friends can NOT be outdone! Check out the groomsmen. Suits provided by Goodwill! Then tailored to fit them.

The girls each picked a favorite dress et voilá, insta-chic!

Fabulous food was created by Ravenous Catering

Oh, and did I mention, the bride and groom chose wood as the overall reception theme because the groom is a carpenter! He made all of the favors, table markers and several pieces of furniture used throughout the reception space. Genius!

All under the pale blue skies at Squilchuck State Park in Wenatchee….

Miss Maddy’s {family session}! in Seattle, Washington

Maddy made her debut on my blog earlier this year and she’s back and sweeter than ever! I adore spending time with Maddy and her parents, Melissa and Tim.

We spent this crisp fall afternoon in Ravenna, which was (in my opinion) the perfect way to spend the day! I think Maddy agrees 🙂

A + J {Engaged!}

I met Allison and Jesse in June and I just knew I instantly liked them. They laugh, a lot. They are crazy intelligent. And they love, a lot. Like, out in the open, wear it on your shirt-sleeve love. It made this lovely little engagement session easy! And fun! Thanks you two.
