Wedding Photography Giveaway! #projectweddinggiveaway

I’m so inspired when I hear where my couples devote their time. I am doubly-intrigued when they are involved in building community in some way. I realized that I seriously love working with couples who put a priority on investing in community. And, I want to work with more people JUST LIKE THAT!

And that is why I am crazy-excited to announce that I will be GIVING AWAY 1 wedding in 2014 or 2015 to one such couple, anywhere in the world! Say whhaaaat?!

This giveaway is for any couple (or one half of a couple) who are currently working on a project that invests in community. AND, in addition to covering their wedding for FREE, I want to document that project through photography with them (for FREE as well)!

The project could be about creating a sustainable, volunteer-run urban farm that feeds those in need, like one of my couples in California have done, or it could be working to make drinking-water safe for people in Kenya, like another of my couples!

How it works: You, or a friend/family member must nominate yourself to be chosen. If you are a couple (or one half of a couple), or know of someone who is: a) getting married in 2014/2015 (anywhere in the world) b) Has a project they are coordinating, or involved in that helps foster community (anywhere in the world), submit a nominating letter that describes:

1) the project

2) the project location

3) the wedding details

AND be sure to include a photo of the couple!

Please send your nominations to:

You have until January 18, 2014 at 9pm PST to enter!

We will review all submissions and pick one winner! The winner will be announced Feb. 1, 2014.

The details- The wedding photography coverage includes: One photographer for unlimited coverage on the wedding day, all edited and color-corrected images in high-resolution, 100 of your favorite images printed, 1-year online gallery, wedding book pre-design. All travel expenses necessary to attend the wedding are to be paid for by the couple. I, Kathryn, will travel anywhere in the world to document the couple’s community project for up to 1 week between February 1, 2014 and February 1, 2016. Airfare from Seattle, Washington to be paid by the couple, or affiliated group/company. All other travel expenses to be donated by Atlas & Elia Photography.

I truly look forward to reading your submissions! And don’t forget, if you are a friend or family member of a couple who fits this description, be sure to spread the word!

As an artist, and a person, I yearn to connect with people more deeply, through my photography and my actions. My roots are in documentary photography and I often miss doing this work! This next year will be about doing both!

paying it forward… | Leavenworth WA wedding photography

So, every now and again I’m so struck by someone’s act of kindness that, I have to stop and think a little bit about giving and whether I’ve been generous enough with my time, money, etc.

Today, for no reason whatsoever, my neighbor, as he drove down the street, saw that I was walking my dogs to get a coffee. He was on his way to buy his own coffee and before I arrived, he bought my coffee for me! The barista let me know of this little act of generosity and well, it just made my day! And now, friends, I’d like to pass that on to it forward, if you will!

I’m giving away a $25 gift card to the coffee shop of your choice Starbucks, Caffe Mela, Snapdragon, Stumptown, wherever you’d like! All you need to do is:

1) leave a comment below to tell me how you’re going to pay it forward.

2) Make sure you “like” Atlas & Elia Photography on Facebook.

3) And, for an extra chance to win, follow @atlasandelia on Twitter and tweet this: “Tell @atlasandelia how you plan to #payitforward for a chance to win a $25 coffee gift card!” and then tell me what you plan to do there on Twitter!

Make sure you get your comments and tweets posted before midnight PST this Thursday to be entered in the giveaway! I’ll pick the winner at random and announce later this week!

As far as my neighbor, I am trying to think about how to repay him, but that’s the thing, he didn’t do it to get something in return…it was a genuinely altruistic act. Still, I think a plate of homemade cookies will be making its way to their doorstep by the end of the day 🙂
