A Winter Engagement | Leavenworth

Maybe it’s ok to succumb to the deep, dark days of winter–to savor the silent darkness, let it swallow us up for a moment in time. Maybe it’s ok to slow down-to walk with a heavier footing. Maybe letting winter be in us, allowing it to wrap around us is more natural and whole than we can realize in the moment.

It is a time to quiet ourselves and just be…something I work toward all of the seasons of the year, whenever possible. While it can feel long and drawn out, I am so grateful for what winter represents.

And, I was so grateful to be able to photograph Taylor and Josh in Leavenworth for their winter engagement session; and to slow down with them and let them be wrapped up in each other’s arms. There were several moments during their session where the light in their eyes for each other took my breath away. Seeing that kind of light is worth enduring all the darkness of the world…
